Gill Opticians is a 40-year old Independent opticians offering exceptional eye care, luxury frames and sunglasses with premium Carl Zeiss lenses.
Jamie Gill took the business over from his father in 2017. A year later he approached us with a succinct brief to re-brand the business. A fresh new look was required with a prerequisite of holding onto the existing clientele and growing the busines.
Through completing the branding scope document with Jamie we discovered that the solution was all in the name. A monogram using the business initials provided the inspiration for creating a logotype that mirrored a frame shape. The simplicity of the letter forms gave the new brand a minimal look and feel which was essential to casting the brand in a new modern light. The choice of font again pointed to the name. We wanted to use a font that had its inception steeped in history but had also come through a revamp – Gill Sans Nova was an obvious choice. Its clear simple letter forms mirrored that of the logotype giving the brand a contemporary feel.
Once the identity was in place we then developed a voice for the brand that could be communicated through online and printed promotions. This included the Gill Opticians website as well as styles for original photography and how the brand would work in an advertising space.
